Martha Crampton

Martha, a native of Raleigh, always loved art and music. She took art lessons, began playing piano at age six, cello and bass fiddle from middle through high school, and continued to pursue her love of all the arts.

After attending UNC-Greensboro and graduating from UNC-Chapel Hill with a Bachelor of Arts in Art Education, Martha was a Medical Illustrator in the UNC School of Dentistry for four years.  This tapped all the arts… painting, drawing, graphs, charts and photography and was a joy!

While raising three daughters in Raleigh, Martha put her art to one side and family was her priority. Her husband Greg always encouraged her to pursue her art and five years ago, Martha was fortunate to find studio space at Moon Dog Fine Arts with a wonderful group of talented artists and friends.

Martha loves the quote, “Art can free your soul” and that truly fits her heart!  From illustrator to painter, she enjoys painting with oils… free, loose, abstract, discovering that sometimes, less can be more.   Painting frees her soul and nourishes her creative spirit!
